JULY 8 (Sat.) & 9 (Sun.), 2017
NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE & LINGUISTICS
The International Conference on Practical Linguistics of Japanese (ICPLJ) aims to stimulate research in Japanese linguistics. The scope of this endeavor, as a matter of fact, covers a wide area, including linguistics – phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, lexicon, pragmatics, discourse analysis, applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, bilingualism, Japanese language education/instruction, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) technology, and language production, etc. ICPLJ invites proposals for the tenth international conference, ICPLJ10, which will be held at the National Institute for Japanese Language & Linguistics in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan.
AIMS & SCOPE
The theme of ICPLJ10 is “Improving Japanese-Language Teaching through Studies in Analyzing the Communication of Japanese Language Learners or Applied Linguistics.” The theme of the conference will also be inclusive of a broad spectrum of papers and panels. It will bring together researchers on the cutting edge of Japanese linguistics and to offer a forum in which their research results can be presented in a form that is useful to those desiring practical applications in the fields of teaching Japanese as a second/foreign language.
“Selected papers” presented at the conference will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Japanese Linguistics http://japancenter.sfsu.edu/pages/journal-japanese-linguistics. The publication of the papers enables the ideas from the conference to reach an even larger audience around the world, further benefiting countless researchers, teachers, and their students. Please note that some conditions may apply for the publication of the presented papers (e.g., the paper length, language).
Each author is only allowed to submit one proposal as the first author (and possibly one joint proposal). Each paper presentation will be 30 minutes in length (20 minutes for presentation, followed by a 10-minute question and answer period). The presentation of posters will be 60 minutes each day. The language of presentation can be either Japanese or English.
