CALL FOR PAPERS TENTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PRACTICAL LINGUISTICS OF JAPANESE JULY 8 (Sat.) & 9 (Sun.), 2017 NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE & LINGUISTICS The International Conference on Practical Linguistics of Japanese (ICPLJ) aims to stimulate research in Japanese linguistics. The scope of this endeavor, as a matter of fact, covers a wide area, including linguistics – phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, lexicon, pragmatics, discourse analysis, applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, bilingualism, Japanese language education/instruction, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) technology, and language production, etc. ICPLJ invites proposals for the tenth international conference, ICPLJ10, which will be held at the National Institute for Japanese Language & Linguistics in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan. AIMS & SCOPE The theme of ICPLJ10 is “Improving Japanese-Language Teaching through Studies in Analyzing the Communication of Japanese Language Learners or Applied Linguistics.” The theme of the conference will also be inclusive of a broad spectrum of papers and panels. It will bring together researchers on the cutting edge of Japanese linguistics and to offer a forum in which their research results can be presented in a form that is useful to those desiring practical applications in the fields of teaching Japanese as a second/foreign language. PUBLICATION “Selected papers” presented at the conference will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Japanese Linguistics http://japancenter.sfsu.edu/pages/journal-japanese-linguistics. The publication of the papers enables the ideas from the conference to reach an even larger audience around the world, further benefiting countless researchers, teachers, and their students.
