This symposium will feature research presentations on second language vocabulary acquisition and vocabulary processing, encompassing both theoretical research and educational practice. The programme is designed to provide an overview of current trends in vocabulary research, appealing not only to specialists in the field but also to those interested in speaking, task-based research, CALL, and educational practice.

The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Stuart Webb (University of Western Ontario), a leading figure in vocabulary acquisition research.

Additionally, presentations by Professor Webb’s Japanese colleagues will cover diverse topics employing different methodologies and theories, including vocabulary list development using LLM, multi-word expressions and L2 speaking ability, incidental vocabulary learning, and vocabulary learning using flashcards. While centred on vocabulary research, the conference aims to foster discussions that engage with related fields. Postgraduate students are particularly encouraged to participate.
